What to Book First

Downtown / French Quarter: Walking distance to everything. King Street, restaurants, bars, waterfront. This is where you want to be if your group plans to go out at night.
Cannonborough-Elliotborough: Still walkable to King Street, slightly less expensive, and often has larger homes with more bedrooms.
Harleston Village: Quiet, residential, beautiful. A short walk or quick Uber to the action.
Folly Beach: Only if your group prioritizes beach over city. It's about 20 minutes from downtown, which means Uber logistics for nights out.
Dinner Reservations
Charleston restaurants book up for spring weekends. Make your dinner reservations the same week you book your rental. Trying to walk in with a group of 12 on a Saturday in April won't work.
A few reliable options for larger groups: Husk takes reservations and handles groups well. FIG is worth the effort. For something more casual, Leon's Oyster Shop and Lewis Barbecue accommodate walk-in energy without the formal reservation dance.
Activities
Book your anchor activity 4 to 6 weeks before your trip. Figure drawing parties, boat charters, and private cooking classes all fill up on spring weekends. Don't assume you can book something the week of.
A Realistic Spring Weekend Itinerary
Here's a 3-day, 2-night template that works. Adjust based on your group's energy and preferences.
Friday: Arrive and Settle

Evening: This is the night. Your group is energized from the afternoon activity, everyone's dressed up, and it's Saturday in Charleston. Dinner reservation at 7 or 7:30. Then wherever the night goes.
Sunday: Wind Down
Morning: Brunch. Poogan's Porch, Millers All Day, or Callie's Hot Little Biscuit for something quick and iconic.
Late morning: Pack up, final walk through the historic district, maybe hit the Charleston City Market for souvenirs.
Afternoon: Flights home or the drive back.
Spring-Specific Tips
